Defining Mandy

So I am a leader over some of the Youth in our Ward. Each Wednesday night we get together for an activity. One of my girls came up with the concept for an activity to make an Album to learn to scrapbook and find themselves in the scriptures. So I designed an album and will be sharing my pages in the next couple of weeks. Here is the cover. I am REALLY excited about it, and the girls are loving putting together their album too!

The concept behind the Album is 10 Scriptures that define me. I loved making this album, because I have found myself thinking of new scriptures each day that I can see that match my life. PLUS I used American Crafts new EVERYDAY line of paper, and I have had so much fun. Can the products GET any cuter? I think not! Here is my first page. I will be posting all of the pages in the weeks to come! **

My first page is about my Mission. I took 1 1/2 years from my life and was a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Each day was filled teaching people of Jesus Christ and challenging them to read the Book of Mormon and to ask Heavenly Father if the things we were telling them are true. The scripture I chose was Doctrine and Covenants 4. Here is what it says about missionary work:

NOW behold, a marvelous work is about to come forth among the children of men. Therefore, O ye that embark in the service of God, see that ye serve him with all your heart, might, mind and strength, that ye may stand blameless before God at the last day. Therefore, if ye have desires to serve God ye are called to the work; For behold the field is white already to harvest; and lo, he that thrusteth in his sickle with his might, the same layeth up in store that he perisheth not, but bringeth salvation to his soul; And faith, hope, charity and love, with an eye single to the glory of God, qualify him for the work. Remember faith, virtue, knowledge, temperance, patience, brotherly kindness, godliness, charity, humility, diligence. Ask, and ye shall receive; knock, and it shall be opened unto you. Amen.

We repeated this scripture each day before going out for the day. The pictures are from my mission and remind me of the great people I met, and served in Upstate New York.

Here is my Challenge ... Try it for yourself! Be sure to send me a link so I can see your album too! HUGS!

**Please note, you're welcome to copy my design to use it for another youth group, or yourself, but PLEASE don't copy the idea for publishing or selling. Thanks :)

Oh my goodness chica!! This is amazing. I followed the link from Becky Higgin's blog to look at the baby kit samples... BUT THIS!! This album is an inspiration beyond what I have even looked at. I have had the chance to teach scrapbooking to YW in the past and wish this idea had revealed then. Which that was years ago... so I will just be thankful I found this now. I recently had my third child and have yet to do and pages to define myself... oh Mandy this is perfect. It will be a major pick me up to discover this for myself. Thank you for this! I love to here about other missionaries mission experiences. I will definitely be back to see more... Thanks Mandy for your inspiration... its inspiration beyond any other I have felt!! Thank you!!

Cute stuff. You are seriously the most creative person I know. I love the idea and what a great way to share the gospel with all of your new friends. I think it is so great that you can find a way to share something that brings us so much happiness and peace. I also didn't know you were a runner. I run every day and I can't say that I love to run... but I love the way I feel when I am done, plus I love to eat, hence, I need to run!!!
