But if you ask me, it really doesn't bother me when you have a label. Maybe it is because I am always trying to simplify my life. I am trying to determine if I take the time to self address my Christmas Cards this year, rather than put the typical "typed" label.
So my question is ... is it a classy thing, "old fashioned" thing? Or have times changed ... can we do the label thing?

I think you should hand write addresses for the same reason you should hand write on your scrapbook pages-- it's a little bit of you on there.
I'm not a fan of labels but I hear ya...handwriting is a drag. If you can swing it, print directly onto the envelope. It takes some trial and error and some know-how but once you get the setup, you're golden. I think it looks much better than labels.
I figure they will be opened either way and it's what is inside that I love to see anyway. Go with labels. Honestly, when I've received a handwritten envelope, I've thought, "wow. this person doesn't know about the miracle of labels.
I prefer to handwrite on my envelopes for that personal touch. Besides, I have trouble printing those pesky, little labels.

however you could always use a handwritten font on your labels! there are some really nice ones out there, and it could add the same effect?
Save the handwriting for the cards. The envelopes go right in the trash anyway so make your life easier and use labels.
The envelope gets thrown out. Go with labels and save your handwriting for the inside of the card that people will keep.
Skip the labels and print directly on the envelope. Once you set it up right you are good to go! Saves you a little money and a little bit less goes into a landfill :)
Sure handwritten addresses are the gold standard, but getting an actual card in the mail in the age of email and e-cards is such a treat!
I have horrible horrible handwriting so I always try and type them. Plus then you get to use fun fonts!
I think write out all the envelopes and addresses now in front of the tv and then when the time gets nearer you just have to write in the card and pop it in the envelope...I love the handwritten envelope.

I turn on some DVR'd tv shows and handwrite away. It took me less than one episode of Private Practice to address 30 baby shower invitations yesterday....almost made me wish I had a few more so I could finish watching the show!
I use a stamp for my return addresws which I put on the back of the card and then I handwrite the address on the front. To me it just looks better but I guess I am old fashioned that way. Honestly most people probably wouldn't even notice :)
