Saturday Activities

I am finally getting to some projects that I have needed to finish for a LONG time! This morning Adam and I woke up early, and got a few of my New Years cleaning resolutions out of the way .... first we fixed our cabinets in our kitchen; then cleaned the upstairs carpets; Next cleaned underneath and behind the washer and dryer; Finally finished the birthday gifts for my Young Women this year. I have already made a few of them for the girls who had their birthday's in January and February ... but I have had the rest of them staring at me and needed them OUT of my office!
So this is how they turned out!

The theme this year for the youth in the LDS church is Timothy 4:12 - Let no man despise thy youth, but be an example of the believers ..." Me and my counselors decided to give them a little metal prayer hanger to remind them to pray and ask for the Lord's guidance to be an example of the believers each day. We also gave them a candle to remind them to be "the light of the world ... a city on a hill that cannot be hid" (Matt 5:14). I think they turned out pretty cute and the girls seem to like them so far!
Hope you do too!

Here's to getting more projects DONE! Now I just need to finish my knitting project. I am so excited to show you!

More from this week!

I promised I would attach a few more home show picts ... but first ... the news!

Bryson and I went to the Doctor on Monday for my 24 week check up and his 1 year appointment. They decided to do it all! First, Bryson is 90th percentile in height and 80th in weight! He also got five shots. Our baby is looking good and they say I am as healthy as ever. If it is the diet of pure sugar ... I think it is working :) One thing I love about my doctor is that he can do ultra sounds at every appointment and doesn't charge me. I got this picture today and just had to share!
Isn't that foot just the cutest ever?

Maybe this will inspire me to actually scrapbook Bryson's ultrasound pictures :)

Bryson also came down with a massive cough / cold yesterday. I feel so bad for the little guy! With little sleep last night, we are surviving though. I had a Young Womens activity last night and invited a friend of mine to teach us all to knit. I am extremely uncoordinated but determined to finish my project. I will post it when I am done (probably not soon though).

Last but not least, here are the home show picture additions!
Mandy

This was metal sheeting they used on one of the walls in a boy's bedroom. I thought it was extra cool!
For some reason this just inspired me to make a scrapbook page. I am going to use it for inspiration!
I thought the chalkboards were so cute. They were above a little bench by the back door.

Last but not least ... I just loved these curtains. I have tried to find ideas for some in my bedroom and think I finally found the match. I think I am going to wait until we move to make them. No sense making curtains and matching them to a house we will only be in for a few more months!
Hope you enjoy!

And the WINNER is:

VAL!!!

Thanks so much for entering everyone. There were quite a few of you that knew all of them. Maybe next time I need to be a little tougher! I am so proud! Here are the answers for those of you who are still wondering:

"Yogurt ... Yogurt ... I hate Yogurt ... especially with STRAWBERRIES" - Spaceballs

"I gotta get outa here, I gotta get out of here." "Get ahold of your self ... SMACK!" - Airplane

"She'll be comin' around the mountain when she comes ... EXCUSE me ... are you the singing bush?" - 3 Amigos

"Look at the size of that kids noggin'" - So i married an axe murderer

"Farley, Farely, Farley, Farley" - 3 Amigos

Seriously, some of the best movies of ALL time!

So St. George was AWESOME! We got there on Friday and met right up for lunch with my Sister, her husband, and my darling niece, and my sisters friends. We ended up spending more time with them than we had planned which was great! We went to a lot of BEAUTIFUL homes, ate LOTS of food, and even went to see the movie Mall Cop.
(PS ... if you haven't seen it, I highly recommend it! It was HILARIOUS!)

Here are a few picts of things that inspired me! Some of the pictures are on my husbands point and shoot ... so look back later for additional pictures! hope you like them!
Mandy
Speaking of movie quotes, this was some vinyl writing on a wall that I thought was extra cute!
This was the whole family's hands framed with their signature. I just thought it was really sweet. I definitely want to do this with my family when I am done having kids ... or better yet ... maybe I should do it multiple times as they are growing up!
Check back for more picts later!

Favorite Quotes

Okay, I decided not to take my computer to St. George, because well, life has become a little more crazy than I would like lately and to be quite honest ... I NEED A BREAK! So this post is being written before I leave, so I can continue my new years resolution to post more often!

Another New Years resolution I have decided to make is to clean out all my scrapbook stuff ... What does this mean to you? Well folks ... this means you might JUST POSSIBLY receive some of it. One of my FAVORITE things to do with my sister is to quote TV shows of the past and movies. So here is how it will go ... I will post 5 quotes from my favorite movies and the FIRST person to email me the correct answers will get a nice little package ... (Displayed later) Here is my email address: skierdouglass@gmail.com ... and here are the quotes: (hint: they are all comedy's)

"Yogurt ... Yogurt ... I hate Yogurt ... especially with STRAWBERRIES"

"I gotta get outa here, I gotta get out of here." "Get ahold of your self ... SMACK!"

"She'll be comin' around the mountain when she comes ... EXCUSE me ... are you the singing bush?"

"Look at the size of that kids noggin'"

"Farley, Farely, Farley, Farley"

GOOD LUCK!

St. George Baby!

Adam & I are headed to St. George tomorrow for a little getaway. (Don't worry, Bryson is coming with!) My sister and her husband are going to be there and we are hoping to do lunch or something.

The home show is going on right now so I am WAY stoked to go! I am sure we won't make it to all the homes, but I am sure we will get to enough to satisfy our home envy for another year! I will be sure to post some pictures of my FAVORITE things!
Until then ... Goodnight and Goodluck!

Bryson's Birthday

I spent all of last week preparing! Bryson's birthday theme was "B". EVERYTHING was dedicated around the letter "B". First birthday invitations...
then a Birthday Banner...
followed by Birthday Hats balls for Bryson and his two cousins Chance and Kason.and last but not least balloons ...

and a birthday cake from Safeway. (They gave him his own little cake to destroy himself for free!)

So the lo-down on Bryson's birthday. It turned out to be a wonderful day. We did dinner at Fiesta Mexicana and Adam's parents, brother, and grandma came down from Kanab. We did the whole opening presents thing and cake destroying tradition. It was the best first birthday ever ... okay in a "first time" "first birthday" mommies life!

PS - Thanks to all the companies for all their amazing products to make this birthday a great success. Sizzix - Banner, Quickutz Silhouette - Letters on Banner and invitations, Stampin up! for the cute stamps on the background of the banner, American Crafts and Wassau Paper for the great colors of cardstock, and last but certainly not least - Tsukineko for their AWESOME Stazon ink and Sponge Daubers on the edges of the banner and invite and also ink for the stamps!
PS ... FAMILY be sure to check out the other blog too for more picts!

HAPPY VALENTINES DAY!

Just wanted to wish you all a very HAPPY HAPPY Valentines day today.

I am not one who has been known for having good V-day's in the past, but since I have been married, they have gotten better and better. I decided first to make Valentines for my family and friends ... and then of course for my own Valentine.

And in return, Adam surprised me with this.

We have had a wonderful day. Hope your V-Day is extra great!

I looked out my window ...

And what did I see?

SNOW Falling! YEAH!!!!!

Bryson just watched and watched out the window ... occasionally giving me the look ... MOM, are you seeing what I am seeing? It was like a blizzard! It has only been an hour since it stopped and I had to run out the door to get a picture, for fear it would melt before I could show you!

Just wish the nearest ski resort wasn't 2 hours away :)

Happy Snow day!

New Beginnings

So I am the Young Women's President in my ward, and New Beginnings was this past Wednesday. We had the girls plan it, and us leaders helped them out. It was a lot of work but tons of fun.

First ... here is the invite, I helped one of my YW make:

The idea was to introduce all the girls who will be turning 12 into the Young Women program, and give them an idea of what is all about. We made a huge sandwich, and each condiment stood for a different Young Woman value. The girls had tons of fun making chef hats, creating posters, and making the sandwich. It was a great night and was lots of fun!

Now I would like to take all the credit for this activity, but I got the idea off of a great website called sugardoodle.net. Check it out!
